For the final phase of Harold Matthews Jr’s “Peripheral Vision” album project, we pull together a collection of remixes of songs from the album.

Featuring an all-star line-up including Glenn Underground, Kaidi Tatham, Turbojazz, Wipe The Needle, Piers Kirwan, Haze City, Urban Soul Lab and label owner himself Sean McCabe.

It’s a tasteful selection touching various corners of soulful house, broken beat, nu jazz and hip-hop, all complimenting Harold’s lyrical style alongside guest vocalists.

Chicago-based Harold wrote his first releases in the early 90’s with artists like Ron Trent, Terry Hunter, Maurice Joshua and Ron Carroll with songs such as “Ritual Of Love” and Barbara Tucker’s “I Get Lifted”. Throughout the late 90’s he was well known for his songs under his ‘Blak Beat Niks’ alias with production partner K. Fingers on PAN Records, Large Music and his own label Melodious Fonk with “The Sun Will Shine”. The 2000’s saw him move on to further projects with the likes of Slip N Slide, Mark Knight, Peppermint Jam, Glenn Underground, Makin’ Moves and Sean McCabe.

We turned on to Emma Jean at Monterey Jazz Fest, and she's the reason I went from 'ehhh I'm not sure I like Acid Jazz and I sure as hell don't like fusion" to "what the hell is *this awesome galactic brilliance?!* A rare talent and a damn fine slab of wax that I have on heavy rotation. I love many tracks including 'Spectre', and i wonder to myself how much it owes to Kate Bush's spectral "Watching You Without Me." jaxers
